Our team from Gujarat First visited Ram Sharad Kothari Smriti in Ayodhya during their visit to the Ramnagari. The team is in the city to cover the grand consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir and the early festivities carried out in the city before the event.

Ram And Sharad Kothari lost their lives fighting for Ram Mandir
In 1990, both the Kothari brothers, Ram and Sharad Kothari were brutally killed by policemen in Ayodhya. Policemen were given the open orders to fire on Karsevaks in Ayodhya after the demolition of Babri Masjid. After 1 year of their death, the Ram Shara Kothari Smriti Sangh was established by citizens of Ayodhya.
This Sangh has been responsible for undertaking social activities for many years.

Our team met the MLA of Ayodhya Ved Gupta Ram at the Sharad Kothari Smriti Sangh office. In conversation with Gujarat First, he expressed his happiness regarding the ceremony. and then he went on to say that it is a matter of pride for the people of Ayodhya and that this day has come after centuries. For Ram Bhakts the death of the Kothari brothers is regarded as a sacrifice which has raised them to the level of martyrs. The MLA further said that it is important to remember these brothers on January 22.

A member from the Sangh gave the information that both the brothers, Ram(aged 22 at the time) and Sharad(20 at the time) were among the first batch of 75 people who came to the Ramnagri from Kolkata in 1990. Both brothers were RSS workers and came to Ayodhya even after VHP asked only one person from each family.
Among the six to seven people who hoisted the flag on October 30 was Sharad Kothari. On November 2, when the Karsevakos were going peacefully, Mulayam Singh's government opened fire on them.
