China Warns US: Tensions between the United States and Iran have flared up once again. Following the failure of peace talks held in Pakistan, both nations appear to be taking aim at one another. While US President Donald Trump has announced a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran has retaliated by issuing a warning regarding oil supplies.

Meanwhile, China—dubbed the 'Dragon'—has now hit back against the tariff threats issued by Trump and has openly aligned itself with Iran. Warning the United States, China stated: "Do not interfere in our affairs."

Donald Trump appears to be taking rapid-fire actions regarding Iran; his decisions are impacting not only Iran but China as well. Following intelligence reports suggesting that China was providing military assistance to Iran, Donald Trump recently issued a major statement. Addressing questions regarding China's military aid to Iran, Trump declared: "The consequences will be severe."

China Responds: 'Our ships pass through Hormuz...'

Now, amidst Trump's threats, China appears to be standing openly alongside Iran. Following Donald Trump's announcement of a blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, China has voiced its support for Iran and issued a significant warning to the United States. Reacting to Trump's move, Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun stated: "Beijing is committed to global peace and stability and is closely monitoring the situation in the Middle East."

Speaking in a firm tone, he further added: "Our vessels are continuously transiting through the Strait of Hormuz. We have established trade and energy agreements with Iran. We will honor these agreements and expect that no other party interferes in our affairs."

US Control Over Hormuz: A Blow to China

The United States has taken steps regarding a blockade on the world's most critical maritime route for meeting global oil demands—a move initiated after US-Iran talks held in Pakistan ended inconclusively. This blockade could severely disrupt China's energy supplies, as China is the largest purchaser of Iranian oil.

Notably, the US Central Command (CENTCOM), citing President Trump's orders, announced that a blockade on all maritime traffic entering or exiting Iranian ports would commence on Monday (April 13). This blockade is to be enforced impartially against vessels from all nations entering or departing from coastal zones—including all Iranian ports situated along the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

China in Trump's Crosshairs

Whether it involves a conflict with Iran or a military strike in Venezuela, China has consistently been the underlying target. This is precisely why China has now openly come out in support of Iran—and rightly so, given that its own energy security is at stake.

Trump had previously dealt a blow to China by asserting control over Venezuela's oil, as China was a major buyer of that nation's crude.
