IPL 2026 RCB vs SRH: The 2026 IPL season kicked off in spectacular fashion. In the tournament's inaugural match, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) made history with a magnificent performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a total exceeding 200 runs on the scoreboard; however, this target proved to be too small for RCB. Batsmen such as Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli, and Rajat Patidar chased it down with ease.

Ishan Kishan Plays a Captain's Knock

After losing the toss, Sunrisers Hyderabad batted first in this match, scoring 201 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. During this innings, Captain Ishan Kishan played an explosive knock of 80 runs off just 38 balls, featuring 8 fours and 5 sixes. Meanwhile, Aniket Verma contributed 43 runs off 18 balls, and Heinrich Klaasen scored 31 runs. On the other side, Jacob Duffy delivered a stellar performance with the ball for RCB; he claimed 3 wickets while conceding a mere 22 runs in his 4 overs. Additionally, Romario Shepherd also bagged 3 wickets, while Jaydev Unadkat and Harsh Dubey each claimed one wicket.

RCB Chases Down Target with Ease

In reply, RCB's start faltered slightly, but the decision to bring in Devdutt Padikkal as an Impact Player proved to be a masterstroke. Coming onto the field in place of Jacob Duffy, Padikkal walked in at number three and unleashed a blistering batting display. He smashed 61 runs off just 26 balls, an innings studded with 7 fours and 4 sixes.

Alongside him, Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 69 runs off 38 balls. During this knock, Virat struck 5 fours and 5 sixes. Captain Rajat Patidar also played an aggressive cameo, scoring 31 runs off 12 balls. Consequently, RCB successfully chased down the target in just 15.4 overs—finishing at 203 for the loss of 4 wickets—and registered a 6-wicket victory. This win was particularly significant as it marked the first time in IPL history that RCB successfully chased down a target of over 190 runs against SRH.
