The new drama erupted after US authorities made allegations of Indian officials' involvement in the plan to kill a US citizen in the United States. According to reports, the United States shared inputs with the Indian government which indicate that people connected with the Indian government tried to kill a US citizen in New York.

The person of interest is the designated Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who has been undertaking separatist activities. Lately, he has also issued several threats to India and Indians, especially Hindus of Indian origin. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun holds dual citizenship in Canada and the United States of America.

The US Justice Department said that Indian agents carried out an unsuccessful attempt to kill a US citizen on US soil.

The Indian government responded by saying that it has launched an investigation into the matter immediately.

Canada's remark over the allegations

Justin Trudeau also commented on the recent development by saying that he wants India to act with more seriousness.

In September, the Canadian government made allegations against the Indian government for being involved in the killing of the Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was a Canadian citizen of Indian origin. Hardeep Singh Nijjar was a designated terrorist by India. He was a Khalistani who campaigned for a separate Sikh state and was also accused of several crimes by the Indian Government.

The Canadian drama was just out of sight when a new drama erupted, throwing allegations over the Indian government. Justin Trudeau took this opportunity to say that Canada wants to work constructively with the Indian government.

He said, "But every step of the way, we have tried to work constructively and positively with India, and we will continue to, and that means continuing to work with Indian government diplomats. This is not a fight we want to be having right now, but we will unequivocally always stand up for the rule of law."

He also said, "From the very beginning, we shared the real allegations that we are deeply concerned about, but we have reached out to the Indian govt and to partners around the world to get to the bottom of this, to take it seriously. That's why we were so disappointed when India violated the Vienna Convention and arbitrarily revoked the diplomatic immunity of over 40 Canadian diplomats in India.”

He said that Canada has serious reasons to believe that Indian agents were involved in the killing of the Canadian Citizen
