In a tragic incident in The United States of America, a two pilots were killed when their planes collided  in Nevada region. As per media reports, this incident took place during the National Championship Air Races and Air Show in Reno, Nevada.

The incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. on Sunday afternoon 17 September. The 2 planes were part of he T-6 race when both of them collided upon landing resulting in killing both the pilots.

The Reno Air Racing Association posted on Facebook that “Around 2:15 p.m. this afternoon (Sunday), at the conclusion of The T-6 Gold race, upon landing, two planes collided and it has been confirmed that both pilots are deceased,"

The deceased pilots are identified as Nick Macy and Chris Rushing, as per CNN reports. Both the pilots were highly skilled in were gold medalists in the T-6 class.

As per the statement “Both expertly skilled pilots and Gold winners in the T-6 Class, Macy piloted Six-Cat and Rushing flew Baron’s Revenge. Families of both pilots have been notified and support services are onsite as they deal with this tragedy".

No other injuries were reported and the scheduled races after the incident were reported cancelled.

According to CNN, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration are conducting an investigation into the crash of two aircraft, identified as North American T-6G and North American AT-6B, which occurred shortly after they had completed a race.

The NTSB stated that the wreckage of both planes came to rest approximately half a mile apart and will be transported to an off-site facility for further analysis.

CNN also reported that event organizers are collaborating with the NTSB and local authorities to determine the cause of the accident and provide necessary support to pilots, spectators, and volunteers during this challenging time.

The event, which has been a fixture in northern Nevada for more than five decades, takes pride in its status as an established institution for aviation enthusiasts worldwide, attracting over a million spectators over the past ten years, as stated on its website.
