UN estimates that 415 million people in India have been lifted out of poverty

report, in just 15 years, from 2005-06 to 2019-21, India saw a<br />
significant reduction in poverty, with 415 million people departing from poverty.<br />
Between 2010 and 2014, 69 million Chinese and 8 million Indonesians were<br />
rescued from poverty, respectively. </p>
<p>Within 15 years, MPI<br />
values in as many as 25 nations, including India, have been halved. Cambodia,<br />
China, the Congo, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Morocco, Serbia, and Vietnam are<br />
among these places.</p>
<p>After surpassing China<br />
with 142.86 crore people, India is now the most populated country in the world.</p>
<p>The rate of occurrence<br />
decreased from 55.1% in 2005/2006 </p>

groups, such as children and those from disadvantaged caste groups, experienced
the fastest absolute progress, according to the report.
The percentage of
Indians who are multidimensionally poor and disadvantaged as measured by the
nutrition indicator has dropped from 44.3% in 2005/2006 to 11.8% in 2019/2020.
Meanwhile, it went from 4.5 percent to 1.5 percent among children.
Multidimensional
poverty and deprivation, however, decreased from 16.4 percent in 2005/2006 to
2.7 percent in 2019/2020.
The findings of the
research gave hope that poverty may be reduced. However, the paper stated, it
is difficult to assess near-term prospects due to a lack of thorough data
regarding the COVID-19 epidemic.
