One such hero was Lala Lajpat Rai. His role in the freedom of India has been incredibly significant and remarkable.

Born on this day (28 January), Lala Lajpat Rai was known as “Punjab Kesari” i.e  “Lion of Punjab”. For his entire life, he contributed towards making Indian Nationalism stronger against the British government. Here are some things to be known about him…
1. Gave India Its First National Bank
The foundation of India’s first national bank was laid by Lala Lajpat Rai in the year 1894.
2. LAL-BAL-PAL
The trio of Lala Lajpat Rai, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, and Bipin Chandra Pal was known by one name LAL- BAL- PAL. 
3. Punjab Kesari Newspaper
Punjab Kesari Newspaper circulated in Punjab founded by Lala Jagat Narain was under the given name of Lala Lajpat Rai as  “Punjab Kesari”.
4. Established Servants of the People’s Society
In 1921, he established a non-profit welfare organization named Servants of the People’s Society, which came to Delhi after independence, and today has many branches in the country.
5.  Supporter and Promoter of Education
In the year 1886, he founded Dayanand Anglo Vaidik School in Lahore and promoted education among children and youth. Today this school is known as DAV all over India.
6. Died Fighting For the Country
He died of a severe head injury incurred during a baton charge by police in Lahore, when he led a peaceful protest march against the all-British Simon Commission Indian constitutional reforms.

Today on his Birth Anniversary, India remembers the legendary Lala Lajpat Rai for his remarkable contribution to India’s fight against Britsih. India seeks leaders like him to fight for change bravely.
