UP By-election: BSP nominated a Dalit candidate from Phulpur Mayawati's move made Byelection interesting

UP Byelection: Mayawati has announced the names of candidates for the by-elections, this  to be held on 10 assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh. In the meanwhile BSP supremo Mayawati, who usually avoids by-elections, in past, now she is ready to entered the fray this time. BSP has made the contest interesting by fielding Dalit candidates from Milkipur assembly seat of Ayodhya and Phulpur assembly seat of Prayagraj. Now with Dalit candidates in the race  to woo the Dalit vote bank BSP has made party leader Shivbaran Pasi the candidate for the by-election from Phulpur assembly seat. Shivbaran Pasi's name was announced in the workers' conference on Sunday. Party's chief sector in-charge Ghanshyam Chandra Kharwar announce that Shivbaran Pasi will be the party's official candidate in the by-election. However this Phulpur seat belongs to BJP Praveen Patel. But winning in Lok Shabha election this seat was vacant.Praveen Patel was the MLA from here.

Ram Gopal Kori from Milkipur seat

Mayawati has fielded Ram Gopal Kori from Milkipur seat of Ayodhya. Kori has contested from Milkipur seat in 2017. That time he got 46,000 votes. But the seat went to BJP, Gorakhnath Baba was elected in 2017. But In 2022 assembly elections, Samajwadi Party's Awadhesh Prasad defeated Gorakhnath Baba and put this seat in SP account. In the Lok Sabha elections, Samajwadi Party made Awadhesh Prasad a candidate from Faizabad seat and he won. After Lok Shabha this seat was vacant, due to Awadhesh Prasad becoming an MP.

BSP fielded close aide of Nagina MP Chandrashekhar Azad from Meerapur seat of Muzaffarnagar of Uttar Pradesh. Mayawati has fielded Shah Nazar as a candidate from this seat. Shah Nazar has been considered close to Chandra Shekhar Azad. With Shah Nazar entering the fray, an interesting contest will be seen on this seat as well.
