UP Teacher Recruitment: In the Supreme Court hearing the petition related to the 69,000 teacher recruitment case in Uttar Pradesh and stayed the order of the Allahabad High Court. The Chief Justice (CJI) said that the decision of the High Court will remain suspended for the time being and the next hearing will be held on 25 September.

The Chief Justice has suspended the order issued by the High Court last month and fixed the date of next hearing on September 25. However the teacher recruitment case in Uttar Pradesh, the Supreme Court said that the matter is serious and it may affect the people working. While the CJI directed all the concerned parties to submit written arguments and said that the court will hold the final hearing on this matter.

Petition on 69,000 teacher recruitment

In the meanwhile the Court said that it will give the order after examining the legal aspects of the matter. The High Court had canceled the merit list on the basis of non-compliance of reservation rules. This may affect about 19000 people who have been working for 4 years.

Court said to present arguments in writing

The court said that time is needed for a thorough review of the High Court's decision. The Supreme Court asked both the parties to submit their written arguments in maximum 7 pages each. The court appointed 2 nodal lawyers for this. The state government was also asked to file a reply on the hole matter related to the future of the teacher in Uttar Pradesh.

The decision of Allahabad High Court

While Allahabad High Court had canceled the selection lists of June 2020 and January 2022 and directed the Uttar Pradesh government to issue a new selection list within three months on the basis of the Assistant Teacher Recruitment Examination of 2019. HoweverThe High Court had also said that if a candidate from the reservation category scores marks equal to the merit of the general category, then his selection should be considered under the general category. This decision has caused concern among many teachers already working in the state.

Stay on High Court's decision
