What is US Diversity Visa Lottery Registration?

People who match the eligibility conditions and are from nations with low US immigration rates are allowed to enter and apply under this kind of visa.

How this process takes place?

The Department of State uses a random computer lottery to choose recipients of the Diversity Visa (DV) programme, and there are strict qualifying requirements for those chosen.

To ensure that no country obtains more than 7% of the DVs, they are split among six regions.

There are 55,000 DVs available for Fiscal Year 2025, and registration is free. However, if they are called in for an interview, those who were chosen must pay a visa application cost. A consular officer evaluates their eligibility for the DV during this interview.

A candidate is qualified to apply for an immigrant visa if their admission is chosen. It's crucial to keep in mind; however, that choosing does not imply approval.

Who are not eligible for this special program?

As previously stated, the Diversity Visa Programme is only intended for nationals of nations with low rates of immigration to the United States. India, China, Canada, and a select few other nations are not permitted to apply because of their large immigration rates to the US.

According to the regulations, applicants for DV-2025 cannot come from nations where more than 50,000 of their native citizens have moved to the United States in the previous five years.

There were no modifications to eligibility from the prior fiscal year, with the exception of the United Kingdom and its dependent territories, which are now qualified for DV-2025.

Due to the fact that more than 50,000 citizens from the following nations and regions moved to the US in the five years prior, they are not eligible to apply for DV-2025.
