US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken to visit Israel to hear their side of the story
USA secretary of State, Antony Blinken reached Israel on October 12, Thursday morning to support the at war nation Israel. USA and Israel are long term allies, and now, the western country has decided to show support to its friend.
The secretary was greeted by Foreign Minister of Israel Eli Cohen when he reached Ben Gurion Airport in Lod, outskirts of Tel Aviv. The city of Tel Aviv was targeted by Hamas as Hamas Fired rockets at Tel Aviv.
Blinken Visit to Israel
Blinken is in Israel to negotiate the release of American citizens held in Hostage by Hamas amongst other hostages.
Steve Gillen, Deputy Special Envoy for Hostage Affairs also visited Israel to emphasis the urge.
Blinken met with Israeli Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and will also meet President Isaac Herzog and other Israeli officials. He expressed his condolences for deaths of Israeli citizens and attack on the country. The Secretary also condemned the Attack by Hamas. He will emphasized on the need for a safe passage for Gaza Civilians.
In his meet with the PM, Blinken said "You may be strong enough on your own to defend yourself. But as long as America exists, you will never ever have to. We will always be there by your side." He further said "I understand on a personal level the harrowing echoes that Hamas' massacres carry for Israeli Jews, indeed, for Jews everywhere".
In the ongoing war between Israel and Gaza, around 1,200 Israeli citizens and 1,100 Palestinians are dead. According to reports, 25 American citizens have also lost their lives in the ongoing war. Hamas has said to be taken 150 hostages into Gaza after it attacked Israel on October 7, Saturday, after it infiltrated into the country and launched the most dangerous attack on the country. This attack has now turned into war.
The Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Israel is on mission to eradicate Hamas.
Blinken will also meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and then will head to Jorden to meet King Abdullah in the capital city Amman.
Blinken on Israel
Blinken took to twitter on October 11, and said that the USA stands with the families of those who have lost their loved ones in the war. He called the attack by Hamas as a "heinous attacks" and that the country will continue to work towards releasing the hostages held by Hamas. He also gave information about the deaths of 22 US citizens.
"The United States has Israel's back . We have the back of Israeli people. We have their back today , we will have it tomorrow and we will have it every day. We stand resolutely against terrorism. We have seen the almost indescribable acts committed by Hamas against Israeli men, women and children. Everyday we are learning more and it's simply heartbreaking. " He further said "When I am in Israel, I will have the opportunity to meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu, President Herzog, other senior officials. I look forward to seeing our embassy teams as well, that's been doing terrific work during these days"
He further said "We are determined to make sure that Israel gets everything it needs to defend itself to provide security for the security of its people. Already significant assistance requested by Israel is on the way. That's on top of everything that we've been doing for years, including with the memorandum of understanding that was negotiated by president Obama to make sure that Israel has what it needs to defend itself. At the same time, we anticipate there'll be further needs, further requests. We've already been working closely with congress on this, and we look forward to continue to do that to make sure that Israel has what it needs."
USA supports Israel in every way
The President of United States have several times been clear on his stance and the stance of the USA on this issue. The President of USA said that Hamas wants bloodsheds and used the people of Palestine as Human Sheild.
He also said " And let there be no doubt: The United States has Israel’s back. We will make sure the Jewish and democratic State of Israel can defend itself today, tomorrow, as we always have. It’s as simple as that. These atrocities have been sickening. We’re — we’re with Israel. Let’s make no mistake. "
