Resignation from Congress

Earlier in the day, Shastri had resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party, paving the way for his new political journey. The move comes ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Expressing Gratitude and Vision

Expressing gratitude, Vibhakar Shastri thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and other BJP leaders for providing him an opportunity to align with the vision of 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan' envisioned by his grandfather.

"I think under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, I will be able to serve the country by further strengthening Lal Bahadur Shastri's vision of 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan'," he stated.

Vision for Development

Expressing his aspirations, Shastri emphasized, "We also want that under the leadership of PM Modi, we become a developed nation and the largest economy in the world."

Social Media Announcement

Before officially joining the BJP, Vibhakar Shastri took to social media to announce his resignation from the Indian National Congress. In a post on the platform X, he wrote, "Hon'ble Congress President Shri @kharge ji! Respected Sir, I hereby tender my resignation from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress (@INCIndia). Regards Vibhakar Shastri."

Political Background

Vibhakar Shastri had previously contested and lost from the Fatehpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh during the 2009 Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket.

Recent Political Transitions

This move follows the trend of prominent leaders shifting alliances, as seen with former Congress leader Ashok Chavan, who recently joined the BJP. Chavan expressed his commitment to working for the "constructive development of Maharashtra" as he embarked on this new phase of his political career.
