Vikram Lander Set to Awaken Today: What's in Store for Phase-2 of Chandrayaan-3 Mission?
Following an eventful lunar month, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is preparing for the next phase of the Chandrayaan-3 mission. The Vikram Lander and its companion rover, Pragyan, successfully landed on the Moon on August 23 and are now poised for Phase 2 after a period of rest and recharging.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh, discussing the Moon mission in the Lok Sabha, expressed that all efforts are being made to rouse Vikram and Pragyan from their slumber.
"As we sleep on Earth tonight, Vikram and Pragyan will perhaps wake up on the Moon," Singh remarked.
Vikram Lander accomplished a soft landing near the Moon's south pole on August 23, successfully achieving one of Chandrayaan-3's primary objectives. Regarding the prospects of Vikram Lander's awakening, Singh explained that everyone involved in the mission is eagerly anticipating the lunar temperature to surpass minus 10 degrees, initiating the wake-up call.
"The second phase of Chandrayaan-3 is set to commence in the next few hours. We are anxiously awaiting the activation of the wake-up call and the response from Vikram and Pragyan. Once this occurs, communication with Earth will begin, marking a historic achievement," Singh emphasized.
