Cats and dogs are pets that people around the world enjoy. While people typically feed and care for their pets themselves, many wealthy individuals also hire people for this purpose. The story of one such man is making the rounds these days. In fact, a man earned 160,000 yuan (US$23,000), or approximately 2.1 million rupees, during his holiday week by offering cat feeding services during the Chinese New Year.

According to a report in the South China Morning Post, the substantial income generated by this cat care and feeding business highlights the high demand for such services in China. Born in 1991 and living in Shanghai, Huan Kong is a professional in the pet care industry, specializing in door-to-door cat feeding services for nine years.

Huan and his team completed 2,000 orders

In fact, during this year's Spring Festival, Huan stayed in Shanghai with four other people and cared for pets whose owners were away for the holidays. Over a 20-day period before and after the festival, his team went door-to-door to fulfill nearly 2,000 cat feeding orders, with Huan handling nearly 1,000 of them personally. Reports indicate that more than 80 percent of these orders came from customers returning to their hometowns, while about 10 percent came from people traveling during off-peak times.

Works 20-21 hours

During the holidays, Huan leaves home at 3 a.m. every day and works until 10 or 11 p.m. During this time, he sleeps only three to four hours on average. According to reports, on their busiest day, they completed 55 orders, and each visit lasted 10 to 15 minutes, requiring them to clean the litter box, feed and water the cats, check their health, clean windows and electrical appliances, and take out the garbage.

Praise on Social Media

This unique service has been widely praised on Chinese social media. One user said, "My wife also hired a door-to-door cat care service. The caretaker kept a video on the entire time and was also responsible for feeding the cat and cleaning the litter box. It really brought us so much relief to have her come to our house during Chinese New Year." Another user wrote, "It's really hard work to earn money this way during the holiday season."
