Florida Teen Survives Throat Slashing, Interview Goes Viral
Florida teen survives throat slashing in Daytona Beach. His calm interview goes viral as suspect faces charges.
A 13 year old boy from Florida has gone viral after his interview with Fox News days after surviving a serious knife attack in Daytona Beach.
Sullivan Clarke was attacked on Valentine’s Day while attending Daytona 500 festivities with his parents. According to a report by the New York Post, doctors said if the cut had been one millimetre deeper, it would have been fatal.
Clarke was talking on the phone when he was attacked from behind. He suffered a serious throat wound and received 13 stitches.
The alleged attacker has been identified as 44 year old Jermaine Lynn Long. According to jail records, Long is a registered sex offender.
Despite the incident, Clarke appeared composed during an interview with Fox News on February 18. He leaned back in his chair with his hands folded across his stomach and smiled while speaking.
During the interview, he made faces while his mother described the trauma. He looked at his mother in disbelief when she said that he had nightmares after the incident.
Clips from the interview circulated widely on social media. Users commented on his expressions and calm demeanour.
"Those pain meds were treating him right," one user wrote with a laughing emoji.
"I've closely observed this species of teen males in the wild, & this is a perfect example of how they can be just freaking horrible & absolutely glorious all at the same time," said another.
"The chillest dude in America," a third said.
Clarke’s father, Jared Clarke, criticised the release of the suspect. Speaking to The Ingraham Angle last week, he said, "This is totally unacceptable. I cannot believe he was just released four days ago and then come to find out he could have been arrested the same day and my son - we wouldn't even be sitting here right now."
Further investigation into the attack is underway.
