N Valarmathi, the distinguished voice that resonated through countless Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) rocket launch countdowns, passed away unexpectedly in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She hails from Ariyalur, a town in Tamil Nadu, and her untimely demise on a Saturday evening was attributed to a heart attack.

Valarmathi's career at ISRO spanned numerous significant milestones, and her final countdown announcement was for the highly successful Chandrayaan-3 mission launched on July 14. As the voice guiding the nation through these crucial moments, her contribution to India's space exploration efforts was immeasurable.

Beyond her role as the voice of ISRO's rocket launches, Valarmathi made a substantial impact on the organization. She notably served as the project director for RISAT-1, India's first indigenous radar imaging satellite.
