Did Lord Krishna Really Have 16,000 Wives?
According to the Bhagavata Purana and the Mahabharata, Lord Krishna had 16,000 wives
The Vishnu Purana and Harivamsa say he had 16,100 wives
These wives are known as the principal queens, collectively called the Ashtabharya, meaning "eight principal queens.
The eight principal queens are Rukmini, Satyabhama, Jambavati, Kalindi, Mitravinda, Nagnajiti, Bhadra, and Lakshmana.
Krishna also had several thousand ceremonial wives, whom he rescued from the demon Narakasura
These women were princesses who felt dishonored, and Krishna restored their dignity
