BRICS: PM Modi's big statement on war and conflicts, "Double standards will not work"
BRICS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a big statement during the ongoing BRICS summit in Russia, regarding the world surrounded by war and conflicts and the challenge of terrorism and it’s financing.
PM Narendra Modi advised the world surrounded by war and conflicts to resort to dialogue and diplomacy to come on the path of solution. He put the countries adopting a double attitude on terrorism.
Double standards will not work
The Prime Minister said that the double standards of any country on terrorism and its financing will not work, rather all the BRICS countries will have to unite against it. During this, PM Modi also said that India welcomes the new members of BRICS, but its decision should be taken with the consent of the founding members.
During this, PM Modi called for resolving the Russia-Ukraine dispute through peaceful talks and said that India supports dialogue and diplomacy, not war. He expressed concern over challenges like war, economic uncertainty, climate change and terrorism.
PM Modi said that BRICS can play a positive role in taking the world on the right path. Just as we were able to overcome a challenge like Covid together, we are certainly capable of creating new opportunities to ensure a safe, strong and prosperous future for future generations.''

Have to be united against radicalism and terrorism
16th BRICS summit is being organized in the Russian city of Kazan from 22 to 24 October. Russian President Vladimir Putin is in the role of chairman in this. Top leaders of BRICS countries, including his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, are participating in it. Prime Minister Modi also advocated concrete global efforts to combat terrorism during this time and said that there should be no "double standards" in fighting this threat. He said,
To combat terrorism and its financing, we need the single, determined support of all. Also, Modi said that the countries of the group need to take active steps to prevent radicalism among the youth. He said, "We have to work together on the pending issue of a comprehensive agreement in the United Nations on international terrorism."
Need to work together on cyber security and AI
Meanwhile PM said that challenges, like cybercrime and deep fakes from AI are in front of us. Norms and procedures adopted during the Johannesburg summit should be followed by all members and partner countries.
Issue of reform in the United Nations Security Council
The Prime Minister once again advocated reform in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and other global bodies during the BRICS summit. "We must move in a timely manner on reforms of global institutions such as the United Nations Security Council, multilateral development banks and the World Trade Organization.
