South Africa Road Accident: The series of road accidents in South Africa shows no sign of stopping. At least 11 people died on the spot in this tragic accident. Local administration and emergency services have confirmed the accident.

14 Schoolchildren Died a Week Ago

This accident comes at a time when just a week ago, a similar road accident claimed the lives of 14 schoolchildren. The continuous accidents are increasing both fear and anger among the people.

How the accident happened

Provincial transport department official Siboniso Duma told the media that initial investigations revealed that the truck driver suddenly took a U-turn on the road. At the same time, a minibus taxi coming from the opposite direction collided with it. The collision was so severe that the minibus was completely destroyed. The deceased include a school child.

Taxi driver in critical condition

According to Gareth Jamieson, spokesperson for the private ambulance service ALS Paramedics, several people were seriously injured in the accident. The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals. The driver of the minibus taxi was trapped in the wreckage of the vehicle and his condition is said to be critical.

Another accident occurred on January 19

Earlier, on January 19, another major accident occurred near Johannesburg. In that accident, 14 children died when a minibus taxi carrying schoolchildren collided with a truck. In that case, the minibus driver was arrested. The investigation revealed that he was speeding and overtaking recklessly. Later, the driver was charged with murder instead of culpable homicide.
