According to media reports, the Liberal Democratic Party crossed the majority mark just two hours after voting ended. PM Taikachi's party needed 233 seats for a majority, which they easily achieved. The LDP, led by 64-year-old Taikachi, secured 312 out of 465 seats, which is significantly more than the majority figure of 233. Many presidents and prime ministers of various countries have congratulated PM Taikachi on her spectacular victory. PM Modi congratulates Taikachi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Sanae Taikachi on her historic victory in the Japanese House of Representatives election. Posting on his social media handle X, he wrote, "The India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership plays a crucial role in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the world. I am confident that under your able leadership, we will continue to take India-Japan friendship to greater heights."

Taikachi's emotional appeal worked

In fact, during the election campaign, Taikachi had announced her resignation if she did not get a majority. She had clearly stated that if her party, the LDP, did not get a majority, she would resign from the post of Prime Minister. This appeal had a profound impact on the people of Japan. Following this, the public showered Takaichi with immense support, giving her the most historic victory to date.

According to Japanese media reports, opposition parties were unable to counter Takaichi's emotional appeal, which is why they suffered a crushing defeat.

China is the biggest challenge for Takaichi

Takaichi wants to pursue right-wing policies that would strengthen Japan's economy and military capabilities amidst growing tensions with China. She also wants to maintain a strong alliance with the United States so that she can stand firm against China. Takaichi's top priority is to establish strong relations with the United States. Takaichi mentioned this several times in her election rallies. This is why she is quite popular among young people.
