Tragic road accident in Brazil, people burnt alive after truck and bus collide
At least 38 people have died, and 13 others are injured in a tragic road accident in Brazil's Minas Gerais state. The accident occurred when a tire of the bus burst, causing the driver to lose control and the bus collided with a truck. This information was given by fire department officials, who reached the spot and carried out a rescue operation.
Initial reports put the death toll at 22. 13 others were seriously injured in the accident and were admitted to hospitals near the city of Teofilo Otoni. Local officials said that the bus was carrying 45 passengers which had left from Sao Paulo, but its tire burst on the way and then collided with the truck. After this, a car also collided with the bus, in which it is said that three passengers were travelling, who survived. The accident happened at 4 am.

In the pictures from the spot, it can be seen that a truck is on top of the crushed car; its wheel is on the roof of the car. The Minas Gerais Fire Department says that the accident happened on Highway BR-116. The debris of the vehicle can be seen in the pictures after the accident. Pictures of the fire in the bus also came out, in which the bus is seen burning.
Road accidents in Brazil
Brazil's road accident fatality rate was 15.7 per 100,000 people in 2021, much higher than Argentina's 8.8. Brazil has set a road safety target of halving deaths by 2030, envisioning saving 86,000 lives. In a similar accident in September, a bus overturned, killing three people.
