States will Cyclone Dana affect, and the preparations to deal with the storm. Know in detail
Cyclone Dana, formed in the Bay of Bengal, will hit the coast of Odisha today, evening, at a speed of 110-120 km per hour. Due to which the West Bengal and Odisha government are completely on alert mode.
According to the Meteorological Department, Cyclone Dana is rapidly moving towards the northwest, due to which people living in coastal areas are being evacuated and taken to a safe place.
Measures that have taken by states to deal with Cyclone Dana in detail
The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Bengal and Odisha. In view of the storm, many NDRF teams are on alert in both the states. Flights at Kolkata Airport have been stopped from this evening till tomorrow morning. At the same time, more than 150 trains have been canceled.
Apart from this, the effect of the storm can be seen till Bihar and Jharkhand. NDRF has taken charge in Bengal and Odisha regarding Dana storm. Many NDRF teams have been deployed in both the states. In view of the possibility of cyclone Dana, the Railways has canceled more than 150 express and passenger trains.
The danger of the storm is big. In such a situation, every possible effort is being made to avoid any damage. Preparations are in full swing to deal with this storm on every front. Severe cyclonic storm "Dana" over central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal moved north-northwestwards with a speed of 12 kmph during the last 6 hours.
The state government has deployed 19 teams of NDRF, 51 teams of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force and 178 teams of fire service. Apart from this, 40 additional teams have also been deployed in the affected districts.
Landfall may occur at Sagar Island near Bhitarkanika and Dhamara (Odisha) during midnight of October 24 to morning of 25. During this time, winds can blow at a speed of 100-110 km to 120 kmph. This order is currently effective till October 25. To ensure the Chief Minister's "zero casualty" target, the state government has deployed NDRF, ODRAF and fire services. Odisha and West Bengal are bracing for the severe cyclonic storm, with both state governments evacuating people from vulnerable areas and deciding to close educational institutions in vulnerable areas.
All educational institutions, including schools, colleges and universities, will remain closed in 14 districts of Odisha till October 25. In Bengal, schools will remain closed in seven districts till October 26.
According to the Meteorological Department, the storm may bring the most destruction in Odisha's Bhadrak district. Heavy rains are already falling in Bhadrak. Trees are lost in the mist due to heavy rains and strong winds. Red flags have been put up on the seashore as a warning to keep tourists away. Beachside shops are closed, about 3000 tourists have been sent back from Puri. Hotel bookings in Puri have been banned for 4 days.

In view of cyclone Dana, an alert has been issued in 14 states of Odisha. At the same time, 10 lakh people from about 3 thousand villages are being shifted to relief camps. Bengal Governor Anand Bose has appealed to the people to be cautious
In Bhubaneswar, Odisha, the administration has made adequate arrangements of food items, essential medicines, water and electricity in relief centers and cyclone shelters. Apart from this, pregnant women have been sent to nearby hospitals for safe delivery.
