Dhanteras Puja Vidhi 2025: Dhanteras, also known as Dhan Trayodashi, is celebrated on the thirteenth day of the dark fortnight of Kartik month. It marks the start of Diwali celebrations and is believed to bring wealth, happiness, and good fortune. Auspicious Puja Muhurat

Performing the Dhanteras Puja during the Pradosh Kaal (evening period) is considered extremely lucky.

• Date: Friday, October 17, 2025
• Puja Time: 7:15 PM to 8:19 PM
• Best Direction: Face North or East while performing the rituals.

It is believed that performing the puja within 45 minutes to 2 hours after sunset invites divine blessings from the deities.

Essential Puja Items

To perform Dhanteras Puja properly, keep the following items ready:

• Idols or pictures of Lord Dhanvantari and Goddess Lakshmi
• Clay or brass lamp, incense sticks, and flowers
• Roli, rice, turmeric, and Ganga Jal
• Silver coins, Kalash with coconut and mango leaves

Sweets like kheer or laddus, and Panchamrit (a mix of milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar)

Step-by-Step Puja Vidhi

Begin your day by waking up early during Brahma Muhurta, taking a holy bath, and cleaning your home. Perform the puja in the northeast corner of the house while facing north or east. Place idols or images of Lord Dhanvantari, Goddess Lakshmi, and Lord Kubera together. Start by lighting a lamp and chanting “Om Dhanvantarye Namah.” Offer Panchamrit, Tulsi leaves, fruits, sweets, and dry fruits to Lord Dhanvantari. Light 13 lamps in various corners of the house and end with a heartfelt aarti.

Lakshmi and Kubera Puja

After Dhanvantari Puja, worship Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kubera together for wealth and abundance. Apply roli and rice tilak, offer flowers, incense, and sweets. Chant the mantras —

• Om Shreem Hreem Kleem Shree Siddha Laxmiye Namah
• Om Yam Kuberaya Namah

End the puja with an aarti and distribute prasad among family members to share the divine blessings.

Lighting of Lamps

Lighting lamps on Dhanteras night has deep symbolic meaning. After the puja, light one diya in the name of Lord Yama for protection and longevity. Place 13 lamps at your main entrance and 13 inside the house, especially one facing the south direction, which is believed to safeguard the family from untimely death.
