According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the epicenter of this earthquake was 50 kilometers underground. At this depth, only moderate to severe earthquakes usually occur. According to local media reports, the tremor lasted for several seconds, forcing people to flee their homes and buildings for open spaces.
