UGC NET 2025 Results Released: Know Career Options for Successful Candidates

The National Testing Agency has released the UGC NET December session results, opening up new career paths for thousands of candidates.

 UGC NET 2025 Results Released: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the UGC NET December session results on its official website, ugcnet.nta.ac.in. In the December session exam, 5,108 candidates qualified for both JRF and Assistant Professor positions. 54,713 candidates were successful for Assistant Professor and PhD admissions. Additionally, 1,17,058 candidates have been declared eligible for PhD admission only. Therefore, it is important to know what career paths and opportunities open up after passing the UGC NET.

JRF: A Career Option in Research

For candidates who want to pursue a career in research and academics, JRF is an excellent option. Qualifying for JRF provides a monthly stipend of approximately Rs. 37,000 during the PhD program. Previously, this amount was Rs. 31,000. This financial assistance helps in pursuing research work.

Opportunity for Senior Research Fellowship

After two years of JRF, the opportunity for a Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) arises. Upon becoming an SRF, approximately Rs. 42,000 per month is provided for the next three years. This amount was previously Rs. 35,000, which was later increased.

Contingency Grant is also provided

In addition to the stipend, research scholars also receive a contingency grant. Junior fellows in Humanities and Social Sciences receive Rs. 10,000 annually, and senior fellows receive Rs. 20,500 annually. Junior fellows in Science subjects receive Rs. 12,000 and senior fellows receive Rs. 25,000 per year. Job Opportunities in the Teaching Field

After clearing the UGC NET exam, candidates get the opportunity to become Assistant Professors or Lecturers in colleges and universities. In government institutions, the starting salary can range from approximately ₹57,000 to ₹100,000. In private colleges, the salary can range from ₹40,000 to ₹100,000.

Career in Research and Public Sector

NET qualified candidates can apply for research programs in institutions like CSIR, ICAR, ICMR, and DRDO. In addition, government companies like ONGC, NTPC, IOCL, and BHEL also offer opportunities to NET-qualified candidates. Many private companies also give preference to such candidates.
