Spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs Arindam Bagchi, on Thursday made it clear that India wants a cut off in the number of Canadian Diplomatic presence in the country. The spokesperson said that we demand parity on the number of Canadian Diplomatic presence in the country. According to reports, the number of Canadian Diplomats in India is 61 and the Ministry wants to reduction by 41 people. The ministry want 41 diplomats to leave India by October 14. The spokesperson said that a large presence is causing trouble for Indian government as the diplomats are interfering in the working of the government. "On discussions on parity, given the much higher presence of diplomats or diplomatic presence here and their interference in our internal matters, we have sought parity in our respective diplomatic presence. Discussions are ongoing to achieve this. Given that Canadian diplomatic presence is higher, we would assume that there would be a reduction," said the spokesperson. Previously, the spokesperson has raised this issue in a press briefing and made same remarks.
