An Air India flight operating from Mumbai to Bengaluru made an emergency landing shortly after takeoff on Thursday following a mid-air engine failure, officials said.
The incident occurred on flight AI 2812, operated by an Airbus A320neo aircraft. The flight, scheduled to depart at 2.05 am, took off around 10 minutes late and returned to Mumbai at approximately 2.35 am after the second engine stopped functioning.

There are reports that a loud noise was heard and sparks were seen during takeoff. The pilot immediately issued a warning message and the aircraft returned to the airport within minutes of departure.
It was reported that a later inspection revealed that the plane's second engine was inoperative.
Meanwhile, Air India said that a flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru was diverted to Mumbai due to a suspected technical fault. The airline said alternative arrangements have been made for passengers and the aircraft has been subjected to inspections.
