Amidst circulating rumors regarding a shortage of petrol and diesel in certain cities of Gujarat, the State Government, the Indian Oil Corporation, and the Petroleum Dealers Association today issued a joint statement assuring the public that petrol and diesel are available in ample quantities across the state.

Addressing this matter, Ms. Mona Khandhar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, stated that sufficient stocks of petrol and diesel are available at all petrol pumps throughout the state, ensuring that people do not need to form long queues or panic at fuel stations. Furthermore, a substantial 'buffer stock' of fuel is also available within the state, eliminating any need for panic or hasty actions on the part of the public.

The Additional Chief Secretary further clarified that reports of petrol and diesel shortages in certain locations are merely rumors. Moreover, she warned that if any dealer deliberately keeps a pump closed—despite having stock—or causes inconvenience to the public, strict legal action will be initiated against them.

Mr. Sanjeev Behera, State Nodal Officer and Executive Director of the Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), affirmed that ample stocks of petrol and diesel are present at all fuel depots and terminals across Gujarat. This ensures that the public does not need to queue up at petrol pumps and can procure as much fuel as they require, whenever they need it.

Summary

The President of the Petroleum Dealers Association of India stated that oil companies have extended supply hours and increased supply quantities. Furthermore, he urged the public not to crowd petrol pumps based on misleading messages or rumors circulating on social media. He emphasized that there is currently no fuel shortage in Gujarat, nor is any such issue anticipated in the future.
