Who is Helen Nelson aka Oviya?

Oviya, born into a Christian family in Thrissur, Kerala, started her film career in 2007 with the Malayalam film Kangaroo, alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran. She went on to appear in movies like Puthiya Mukham and Apoorva before taking a brief break to complete her studies. In 2010, Oviya returned to the Tamil film industry with Kalavani, directed by Sarkunam. She then acted in movies like Vengai, Sevanu, and Muthukku Muthaaga. However, after 2014, her acting career saw a decline, and she was mostly cast in glamorous roles in lesser-known films, including Sandamarutham (2015) and 144 (2015), both of which did not perform well at the box office. Her popularity surged again in 2017 when she appeared on Bigg Boss Tamil Season 1. Despite facing opposition from fellow contestants, her straightforward and witty nature made her a fan favorite. Though she left the show midway due to health issues, her fan base only grew stronger. Oviya even won the Best Rising Star Female award for her role in the film Kalakalappu.

Oviya Video Leak Controversy

The controversy began when a video surfaced on social media platform X showing someone allegedly in an intimate situation, with many claiming it to be Oviya. Some experts argue that Oviya could be a victim of deepfake technology, where the video was manipulated to harm her image. The authenticity of the video is still unclear, but the leak led to a flood of hurtful comments and trolling aimed at the actress. Initially, Oviya remained silent but later addressed the issue in her unique, sarcastic style on social media. She shared a picture of herself in a black kurta, subtly crossing her fingers, followed by witty responses to the trolls. As the controversy escalated, Oviya filed a formal complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner and is now seeking legal action against those responsible for the video leak.
