Good News for Premium Car Enthusiasts: Stunning New Models from Skoda and Volkswagen Coming Soon
Skoda and Volkswagen are gearing up to strengthen their premium car portfolios in India. New vehicles such as the Octavia RS, Golf GTI, Kodiaq RS, Tayron, and Superb are set to launch soon.
In the Indian market, both Skoda and Volkswagen have historically focused significantly on affordable sedans and SUVs. However, in the near future, both companies are gearing up to bolster their premium car offerings within India. Through this report, we will provide you with details regarding the upcoming Skoda and Volkswagen vehicles.
Skoda launched the Octavia RS in India last year; at the time, the initial batch of 100 units sold out within just 20 minutes. Consequently, in light of this overwhelming demand, the company is planning to launch a second batch—comprising approximately 100 units—which will be offered at the same price point of ₹49.99 lakh.
These models will feature powerful engines, advanced amenities, and sporty designs, aimed at appealing to premium car buyers.
Octavia RS
The Octavia RS is the brand's high-performance liftback sedan. It is equipped with a 2.0-liter TSI turbo-petrol engine. This engine generates 265 bhp of power and 370 Nm of torque, and is paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The sedan is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. Feature highlights of the car include lowered suspension, an electronic differential lock, upgraded brakes (featuring red calipers), and various other enhancements. The interior boasts a large 13-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-speaker Canton audio system, and heated, ventilated, and massage-enabled seats; safety features include 10 airbags, Level 2 ADAS, and a 360-degree camera. It is also available.
Volkswagen Golf GTI
Much like the Skoda Octavia RS, Volkswagen is also gearing up to launch the second batch of its high-performance hatchback, the Golf GTI, in India. Once again, the new batch will consist of 150 allocated units, and they will be priced at ₹53 lakh—just as before. The Golf GTI is equipped with the same 2.0-liter TSI turbo-petrol engine, which generates 265 bhp of power and 370 Nm of torque.
Skoda Kodiaq Diesel
Currently, Skoda Auto India does not sell any diesel-powered vehicles in the country. However, the company plans to reintroduce a diesel engine option to the market with its flagship SUV, the Kodiaq. The Skoda Kodiaq Diesel will feature the reliable 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine.
Volkswagen Tayron
Volkswagen has already launched the Tayron R-Line in India. However, to appeal to customers seeking a slightly less sporty SUV, the company plans to launch the non-R-Line version of the Tayron in India. This SUV is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2026 and will be priced between approximately ₹40 lakh and ₹45 lakh. The Tayron R-Line is currently priced at ₹46.99 lakh.
Skoda Superb Diesel
Later this year, Skoda is set to launch the new generation of its flagship sedan, the 'Superb.' Skoda will offer the 'Superb' with the same 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine, capable of generating 188 bhp of power and 400 Nm of torque.
