A deeply tragic and harrowing incident has come to light in Bengaluru, where the lives of a couple working in the technology sector met a devastating end, entangled amidst job loss, depression, and family pressure. The young man—who once worked in the U.S. earning a multi-crore annual package—saw his life slowly unravel after he became unemployed. Meanwhile, the couple had secretly tied the knot without informing their families—a decision that later became a major source of mental distress for them. Ultimately, this story reached a tragic conclusion.

According to police sources, the young man previously worked for a major company in the United States, earning an annual salary of approximately ₹1 crore. His career was flourishing, and he was regarded as a successful tech professional. However, the situation took a sudden turn following the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the company. Employees who lacked expertise in AI-related fields were deemed redundant and subsequently laid off.

He lost his job during this wave of downsizing

After losing his job, the young man remained unemployed for nearly a year. During this period, he applied to numerous companies but met with no success anywhere. The relentless failures and the uncertainty surrounding his future took a severe toll on his mental health. He gradually spiraled into depression and began relying on medication to cope.

Life was becoming increasingly complicated and chaotic

It is reported that policy changes also played a role in the dwindling job opportunities available in the United States at that time; specifically, prevailing policies had significantly limited the scope for new employment prospects. Subsequently, the young man moved to Canada in the hope of finding a job there, but he failed to receive any offers in that country as well. This continuous string of failures further exacerbated his already fragile mental state. During this period, the young man married his childhood friend; however, neither of them informed their respective families about the marriage. The young woman was working at a company in Hyderabad, while the young man was unemployed.

The couple decided to move to Bengaluru to start a new life together, believing that living away from their families would allow them to nurture their marriage without interference.

Taking a significant step in her career, the young woman quit her job in Hyderabad and secured a new position at IBM in Bengaluru. Initially, their life together appeared normal and happy. However, the young man's depression gradually deepened.

Eventually, overwhelmed by depression, the young man committed suicide. Upon receiving this news, the young woman was completely shattered. Having lost the very anchor of her life, she was unable to cope with the grief. It is reported that she, too, took her own life by jumping from a height.

Before her death, the young woman had tried to call her mother, but the call went unanswered. She tried twice, but received no response. Subsequently, she sent three text messages that read: "Forgive me; I got married. I lied to you." As her mother was not highly educated, she did not fully grasp the significance of the messages and did not share them with anyone.

According to reports, when the young woman returned to Bengaluru from Hyderabad after the Ramadan holidays, she appeared completely normal. Everything at home also seemed to be in order. No one had the slightest inkling of the turmoil brewing within her mind. The family only learned of the full extent of this tragedy after being informed by the police.

Revelation that left everyone in a state of shock

A rift had also developed between the young man's family and the young woman's family regarding their relationship. The young man had informed his mother about the marriage over the phone, following which she stopped speaking to him. This further devastated him. In his suicide note, he wrote that he had failed to do justice to anyone and had only caused trouble for everyone around him. He could not openly acknowledge his wife—a fact that was gnawing at him from within.
