CRPF jawan arrested in Delhi for sending intelligence to Pakistan

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested CRPF jawan Moti Ram Jat from Delhi. The accused has been of sharing sensitive information of India with Pakistani intelligence people.

According to NIA, since 2023, he was sharing details related to national security with Pakistan Intelligence Officers (PIO). Moti Ram was also getting money from PIO in different ways.

Moti Ram was produced in Patiala House Court, from where he has been sent to custody till June 6. NIA is interrogating him.

CRPF jawan arrested in Delhi

On May 24, Gujarat ATS arrested a man named Sahdev Singh Gohil from Kutch. Gohil used to send photos and videos of existing army units of BSF-NAVY to Pakistani agents through WhatsApp.

Sahdev was working on contract in the Health Department in Lakhpat taluka of Kutch. Earlier on May 15, YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra was arrested from Hisar in Haryana on charges of spying for Pakistan.

Sahdev used to send information from Gujarat to Pakistan via WhatsApp

According to ATS, in June 2023, a woman contacted Gohil on WhatsApp, calling herself Aditi Bhardwaj. It is being told that Gohil got Rs 40,000 in cash for sending sensitive information for the first time.

According to the investigating officers, initially the woman started talking to Gohil by giving a false name. When trust was built between the two, she made her intentions clear to Gohil. She told about the plan to spy for Pakistan.

NIA - accused got money from Pakistani officials

Sahdev Singh also got involved in this due to greed for money. Pakistani intelligence officers always try to trap the people of the border area. Pakistani agents have a database and phone numbers of Indian people, on whom these agents bombard messages.

They especially target people working on government contracts. The Pakistani spy agency somehow obtains the data of people working on government contracts. Then a trap is laid to trap them in different ways.

Summary

Forensic investigation of Gohil's mobile phone has revealed that the two numbers from which Gohil used to send information are now being operated from Pakistan as well. Gohil got a new SIM card using his Aadhaar card in January 2024 and sent its OTP to the Pakistani agent. This enabled the agent to use WhatsApp on that number from Pakistan.

Before Gohil, on 7 July 2023, ATS had also arrested another youth from Kutch on charges of spying for a girl named Aditi.
