More then100 flights hit, city waterlogged as heavy rain drenches Delhi-NCR

Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a warning of heavy rain in entire North India including the capital Delhi.

Delhi NCR heavy rain: The weather has suddenly changed in the national capital Delhi and its surrounding areas. Late on Saturday evening, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for thunderstorm and rain. After this, on the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday (24-25 May) at around 1 o'clock, there was heavy rain with strong winds, thunder and lightning, (Delhi NCR heavy rain) which gave relief to the people from the heat.

However, people are facing problems due to waterlogging in many areas. There is also information about trees falling at many places.

IMD had issued a warning of heavy rain in entire North India

The Meteorological Department had warned of strong winds blowing at a speed of 60 to 80 km per hour, heavy rain, and storm with thunder and lightning in many districts of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Under this, a red alert was also issued for Delhi-NCR. A few hours after this, heavy rain was seen in Delhi-NCR.

Traffic also affected due to waterlogging

Meanwhile waterlogging can be seen in many parts of Delhi. Areas like Minto Road, Humayun Road, Shastri Bhawan were flooded. Information has also come to light about a car being submerged in water on Minto Bridge. Traffic has also been affected due to waterlogging.

Airline services affected

Air traffic has also been affected due to bad weather. IndiGo has informed on X that air flights have been affected due to bad weather in Delhi. Passengers have been advised to know the status of their flight before leaving for the airport.

Apart from Delhi, alert in these states as well

In fact, the Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a warning of heavy rain in entire North India including the capital Delhi. The Meteorological Department had said in an alert issued at around 11.30 pm late night that there may be heavy rain in Delhi-NCR within the next two hours.

Along with this, an alert of heavy rain was also issued in the coastal areas of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra

IMD had given warning in advance

The Indian Meteorological Department had clearly said on Saturday that there may be rain with strong winds in many parts of North India in the next few hours. According to IMD, this weather system is formed due to western disturbance, which is moving towards Delhi and then Uttar Pradesh via Rajasthan.

The Meteorological Department had issued a red alert for rain and strong winds for Delhi and NCR (Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad), Haryana and many districts of Rajasthan.
