MP: Accident in Betul coal mine, workers under debris due to slab collapse, 3 dead
MP: A major accident has occurred in Chhatarpur-1 coal mine in WCL in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh. Many workers have been buried under the debris due to the collapse of a slab of a phase of the mine. After the accident, the mine rescue team, SDRF and police force are present on the spot.
A major accident took place in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday evening. Workers were buried in the coal mine slab collapse. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the police-administration and rescue team reached the spot and started the rescue. So far three workers have been pulled out from the debris, who were declared dead by the team of doctors.

Many workers have been buried under the debris due to the collapse of a slab of a phase of the mine. After the accident, the mine rescue team, SDRF and police force are present on the spot. However, three workers have died. Their bodies have been removed from the mine.
Accident in Betul coal mine 3 dead
The team of WCL, SDRF and police force rescued them. Betul SP Nischal Jharia confirmed the incident and the SP himself has also reached Chhatarpur-1 mine. The accident took place on Thursday evening in the Bagdona-Chhatarpur mine located in Sarani of Betul district, in which three workers died due to the collapse of the mine roof.

As soon as the information about the incident was received, MLA Dr. Yogesh Pandagre, Collector Narendra Kumar Suryavanshi and Superintendent of Police (SP) Nischal Jharia reached the spot and took stock of the situation.
On the instructions of Collector Suryavanshi, a rescue operation was started immediately, in which other workers working in the mine were safely evacuated. However, the death of three workers was confirmed by SP Nischal Jharia.
Families of the deceased will get assistance amount
In this accident, Govind Kosaria (37) Shift Incharge, Hari Chauhan (46) Overman, Ramdev Pandole (49) Mining Sardar died. MLA Dr. Pandagre and Collector Suryavanshi directed the GM of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) to immediately give assistance of Rs 1.5 lakh to the families of the deceased under the Life Cover Scheme.
Summary
The district administration is busy investigating the accident. Apart from this, instructions have been given to release the amount of ex-gratia, gratuity, compensation, PF and life encashment soon. After the incident, the administration has given instructions to review the mining safety standards, so that such accidents can be prevented in future.
At present, the rescue operation has been completed and a detailed investigation of the causes of the accident is going on by the officials.
