While eight Naxalites have been killed in retaliatory firing by Greyhound forces in the area bordering Sukma and Telangana, while five Greyhound jawans were martyred in a bomb attack by Maoists. Maoist Central Committee members Chandranna and Bandi Prakash were also killed at a short distance from the encounter site.

The police were doing routine combing, during which the Naxalites carried out the blast. Information has also come to light that three policemen were injured in this attack.

Earlier on May 7, Naxalites clashed with security forces in the forests of Bijapur district on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border on Wednesday. During this, the soldiers killed more than 22 Naxalites.
