North Macedonia Club Fire: 51 people died and about 100 others were injured in a massive fire that broke out late Saturday night in a nightclub in the southern city of Kokani in North Macedonia. By the time the fire department reached for help, these people had already died. Many of the injured are in critical condition, who have been admitted to the hospital.

Home Minister Panse Toshkovski gave this information in a press conference. Toshkovski said that the fire broke out at 2:35 am during a concert of a local pop group. He said that the youth going to the club set off fireworks which caused the fire.

Family members are gathering in front of hospitals and offices in Kocani and pleading with the authorities to provide more information in this regard. Toshkovski said that the police have arrested a person, but he did not give detailed information about the person's involvement.

Video taken from inside the venue shows the band performing, while sparks are coming out of fireworks in front of the stage. As soon as the sparks reach the roof, it causes a fire. This created chaos at the spot. People started running here and there to save their lives. Many people fell due to suffocation in the smoke.
Prime Minister expressed grief
North Macedonia Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski has expressed grief over the incident. He said that it was a difficult and very sad day. He posted on the social media platform X, writing, '

The loss of so many young lives is irreparable, while the pain of our families, our close ones and our friends is immeasurable.' He directed the authorities to take immediate steps to help the injured and support their families.
Authorities launch investigation into the case
Sunday's tragedy is one of the deadliest nightclub fires in recent history. In September 2021, 14 people died in a fire at a Covid-19 hospital in the northwestern city of Tetovo. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the nightclub fire.
