Preparation to tabled Waqf Amendment Bill in Parliament's ongoing session

The Waqf Bill can be introduced in the Lok Sabha by the government, possibly on Tuesday after Eid. The effort will be to get the bill passed by at least one house in this session itself. The Waqf Amendment Bill was sent to the JPC in August 2024.

The government has seen the report and accordingly preparations have been made to make some changes in the old bill.

After incorporating some suggestions from the opposition parties, the government has accepted the suggestions given by the Joint Parliamentary Committee regarding amendments in the Waqf Bill.

It is being told that by the sources the Waqf Bill can be introduced in the Lok Sabha by the government, possibly on Tuesday after Eid. The effort will be to get the bill passed by at least one house in this session itself.

Sufficient numbers are necessary to pass the bill

JPC had also submitted its report in the first week of the budget session. It is said that the government has seen the report and accordingly preparations have been made to make some changes in the old bill. Opposition parties are aware that the government has sufficient numbers to pass any bill.

In such a situation, the opposition parties are trying to contact the leaders of BJP's allies - JDU, TDP and Lok Janshakti Party and are also trying to warn them in public statements.

According to BJP sources, there is no doubt in the allies. Their leaders were also present in the JPC and their suggestions were well considered. Still, before the bill is presented, the leaders of the allies can be formally informed about this.

Government will not rush to pass the bill

According to information by sources, the effort will be to get the bill passed from at least one house. It is certain that the Parliament will be heated on this. However, it is also certain that the government will not rush to pass the bill and enough time will be given for discussion. The budget session is ending on April 4.

Waqf Bill will be introduced in this session- Amit Shah

Home Minister Amit Shah clarified on Friday that the Waqf (Amendment) Bill will be introduced again in this session of Parliament. In August 2024, this bill was sent to the Joint Parliamentary Committee. Now only four working days are left in the current budget session ending on April 4.

Meanwhile talking to media house, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that we will introduce the Waqf Bill in Parliament in this session itself. No one should be afraid of the proposed law, because the Narendra Modi government is amending the Waqf Act while staying within the ambit of the Constitution.
