SVAMITVA Scheme: PM Modi distributed 'ownership cards'; this scheme benefited 65 lakh people
SVAMITVA Scheme: The Prime Minister Modi today distributed property cards to property owners in more than 50000 villages of 10 states and 2 union territories through video conferencing. So far, about 2.25 crore property cards have been prepared for more than 1.53 lakh villages. This scheme has proved to be a milestone in India's rural empowerment and governance journey.
PM Modi distributed 'ownership cards'
Addressing the program, the PM said that today is a very historic day for the villages of the country and for the rural economy, as more than 65 lakh property cards were distributed under the ownership scheme to property owners in more than 50 thousand villages in more than 230 districts of 10 states and 2 union territories.
What is ownership scheme?
The Swamitva Yojana was launched for survey through the latest drone technology. For this, work was done with the aim of increasing the economic progress of rural India by providing 'record of rights' to the families owning houses in the inhabited areas in the villages.
The Swamitva (Survey of Villages and Mapping with Better Technology in Rural Areas) initiative is making significant progress in transforming rural India.
Under this initiative, the government is providing accurate property ownership data, with clear ownership records to the people, which has reduced land disputes.

Benefit of the scheme
This scheme has proved to be a milestone in India's rural empowerment and governance journey.
This scheme also helps in facilitating the monetization of properties.
Through this card, the people of the village can get bank loans.
The scheme has reduced property-related disputes.

So far 2 crore 25 lakh property cards have been prepared
Let us tell you that drone survey has been completed in more than 3 lakh 17 thousand villages. This figure covers 92 percent of the targeted villages. So far, about 2 crore 25 lakh property cards have been prepared for more than 1 lakh 53 thousand villages.

This scheme has been fully implemented in Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tripura, Goa, Uttarakhand and Haryana. Drone surveys have also been completed in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and many union territories.
This scheme was launched by Prime Minister Modi on 24 April 2020 (on National Panchayati Raj Day).
