Chairman of Bar Council of India: Senior Supreme Court advocate Manan Kumar Mishra has been elected as the Chairman of BCI (Bar Council of India) for the 7th consecutive time. He has been elected unopposed. Manan Mishra is a Rajya Sabha member from Bihar and represents the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

While he was made a senior advocate in 2007. In 2010, for the first time, he was elected as the representative of the State Bar Council in BCI.

Manan Kumar Mishra re-elected as chairman of BCI for 7th consecutive term. 

He holds the record of winning the Bihar State Bar Council election for the 7th consecutive time. Last year he was elected unopposed as a member of BCI from Bihar. At the same time, with this achievement, he has become the President of BCI for the 7th consecutive time. This is a new record.

Re- elected as President of BCI

According to the Bar and Bench report, meanwhile, the race for the post of Vice President of the Bar Council of India is on. S Prabhakaran of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and Ved Prakash Sharma of Delhi are contesting for the post. The election for this important post is being held today. As per the protocol, the members of the executive committee will be selected under the leadership of the newly elected chairman.

Who is Manan Mishra?

Manan Kumar Mishra was born in Tiwari Khareya village of Kuchaykot block in Gopalganj district of Bihar He did his schooling in Gopalganj district. After this, he obtained a law degree from Patna Law College in 1980. He started practicing law from Gopalganj Civil Court.

 A year later, in 1982, he started practicing as a lawyer in Patna High Court.

Manan Kumar Mishra first became a member of the Bihar State Bar Council in 1989. Meanwhile, in 2007, he was made a senior advocate. In 2010, for the first time, he was elected as the representative of the State Bar Council in BCI.

After this, he reached the Supreme Court. Where after practicing law for a long time, on 9 November 2014, he became the Chairman of the Bar Council of India. Since then, he has been holding this post.

After being in many parties, now MP from BJP

Being a lawyer, Manan Kumar Mishra also has a deep inclination towards politics. He first started his political innings with the Bahujan Samaj Party. However, he could not stay with Mayawati's party for long.

After this he joined Congress. He also contested the assembly elections on a Congress ticket in 2010, but things did not work out. After this, he joined BJP in 2014.

Reached Rajya Sabha by defeating many veterans

After being in BJP for almost a decade, Manan Kumar Mishra was sent to Rajya Sabha last year. Manan Kumar Mishra gradually emerged as a big Brahmin face in Bihar BJP. In the Rajya Sabha elections held last year, BJP made him Rajya Sabha MP from Bihar.

BJP gave one of the two seats to JDU, while Manan Kumar Mishra became Rajya Sabha MP by defeating many veteran leaders like RK Singh and Shahnawaz Hussain.
