Though with the end of the BRICS meeting, Pakistan's dream of trying to join this organization has been shattered. Despite the support of China and Russia, Pakistan has not got entry in the BRICS group. Pakistan has not even got a place in the list of new partner countries of the BRICS organization

Pakistan suffered a major setback

China and Russia had supported the inclusion of Pakistan in BRICS. It is being said that India was not very satisfied with Pakistan's entry in BRICS. India, the fastest growing economy and the largest country in South Asia, is a founding member of this group which initially included Brazil (B), Russia (R), India (I), China (C) and later South Africa joined it, after which the first letter of South Africa's name was taken as S, after which the organization came to be known as BRICS.

Meanwhile China had assured Pakistan of inclusion in BRICS, but Pakistan did not get a place in the list of its partner countries, let alone BRICS. Apart from China, Russia had also said that it supports Pakistan's membership in BRICS.

Message PM Modi give to Russia-China regarding Pakistan

The PM Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that India is ready to welcome more 'partner countries' in BRICS but decisions in this regard should be taken unanimously.

At the 16th BRICS summit, PM Modi also gave his message in gestures about the support of Russia and China for Pakistan's entry into the 9-member group. PM Modi said that the views of the founding members of BRICS should be respected. Apart from Russia and China, the other two founding countries of BRICS are India and Brazil.

In the BRICS meeting, PM Modi also called upon the BRICS members to focus on dealing with terrorism and forces that foster terrorists and said that there is no place for double standards on this issue.

Founding members of BRICS should be respected

Although new members are included in BRICS only by consensus, so it was clear that India's opposition to Pakistan's membership could thwart its attempt to join the group, even if some other founding members are in favor of it.

As expected, India did not agree to include Pakistan in this group. Most Pakistani leaders hoped that with the help of Russia and China, Pakistan would be successful in getting entry into BRICS, but this could not happen.

However, by joining BRICS, Pakistan wants to establish its alliance with the influential economies of the world. By joining BRICS, Pakistan will gain a lot both economically and diplomatically.

But it is not beneficial for India in any way because bilateral relations between the two countries are going through their worst phase for at least the last five years. India, which is facing terrorism from Pakistan, does not want any relation with it on this front and India's stand in Kazan for the BRICS summit made this clear.

Pakistan made the allegation

Last year, Pakistani Foreign Ministry had said that its participation in the talks held during the BRICS summit in China was rejected by 'one member'. Although Pakistan did not name India during this time, it definitely said that the BRICS block should take decisions in future based on the interests of the developing world.

But this time Pakistan was fully hopeful that despite India's opposition, the doors of BRICS would open for it with the support of Russia and China. It was also being said that India could also perhaps support Pakistan's BRICS membership.

How BRICS was formed

This alliance had been started with only five countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), but last year the BRICS group included four new members Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and United Arab Emirates (UAE), after which it became known as BRICS Plus.

While other countries also want to join BRICS. Pakistan was also among one of those countries. As a group, BRICS today represents almost half of the world's population.
