BRICS Summit:  The Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, at the 16th BRICS summit and held bilateral talks. While meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin, PM Narendra Modi said, 'I express my heartfelt gratitude for your friendship and warm hospitality.

While during the meeting with Vladimir Putin, PM Modi said, I have been in constant touch with you regarding the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

As I have said earlier, we believe that problems should be resolved peacefully. We fully support the establishment of peace and stability. Humanity is given priority.

PM expressed gratitude for warm welcome

While meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin, PM Narendra Modi said, I am heartily grateful for your friendship, warm welcome and hospitality. It is a matter of great pleasure for me to get the opportunity to come to a beautiful city like Kazan for the BRICS summit. India has deep and historical ties with this city. The opening of India's new Consulate in Kazan will further strengthen these ties.

President Putin said our friendship is very deep with India

Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, indicated close relations between the two countries and said that the relations between Moscow and New Delhi are "especially privileged" and "are developing dynamically".

In the meeting, the Russian President said that he feels that Prime Minister Modi will understand his comments without translation as there are "strong" relations between the two countries.

Projects are developing - President Putin

In a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the next meeting of the Inter-Governmental Commission is to be held in New Delhi on December 12.

Our projects are constantly developing. You have decided to open an Indian Consulate in Kazan. We welcome this. Our cooperation will benefit from India's policies. We are very happy to see you and your delegation in Russia.

Ukraine issue will be discussed with Putin

The Ukraine conflict is also likely to be discussed in the bilateral talks between PM Modi and Russian President Putin. India's mediation role on the Russia-Ukraine issue is also expected to be discussed.

The summit will also focus on further strengthening cultural exchanges between India and Russia, especially increasing cooperation in the field of Indian studies and cinema.

 PM Modi's second visit to Russia this year

This is Prime Minister Modi's second visit to Russia in 2024. Earlier, he went to Moscow in July to attend the India-Russia annual summit. Before leaving for Russia, Prime Minister Modi wrote on social media, "Leaving for Kazan, Russia. India attaches great importance to BRICS, and I am looking forward to extensive discussions at this summit."

United Nations Secretary-General will attend the BRICS Summit

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will also reach Russia to attend this summit. This is his first visit to Russia after April 2022. Guterres will meet Putin on Thursday.

This conference is an opportunity for Russia to create its own identity at the international level. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given a grand welcome on his arrival at the BRICS summit. Red carpet was laid for PM Modi at the airport. Along with this, cultural presentations were given by various cultural groups.

BRICS represents 45 percent of the world's population and 35% of the economy. China has more than half of the economic power of this group.

Russia is trying to increase its diplomatic power by using this platform, while the US has refused to recognize BRICS as any kind of geopolitical competitor.
