Massive Fire at Varanasi Railway Station: A devastating fire broke out early on Saturday morning at the vehicle parking area of Varanasi's Cantt Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh. The blaze destroyed over 200 two-wheelers, including motorcycles, bicycles, and cycles, leaving behind a trail of destruction. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, but the damage to the vehicles is significant.

Firefighters and Police Work to Control the Blaze

The fire caused massive smoke to fill the air, and visuals from the scene showed a chaotic situation at the parking lot. Around 12 fire engines were rushed to the location to contain the fire. They were supported by personnel from the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and local police. The teams worked relentlessly for over two hours to bring the flames under control. Social media videos showed police officers trying their best to manage the situation, using water hoses amid heavy smoke and the spread of fire.

Cause of the Fire: Short Circuit Identified

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was caused by a short circuit. The fire reportedly started in the early hours of the morning and quickly spread through the parking area. Kunwar Bahadur Singh, the Circle Officer (CO) of GRP, confirmed that the blaze was due to an electrical issue, although further investigations are ongoing.

Railway Employees Among the Victims

Many of the vehicles destroyed in the fire belonged to the employees of Varanasi Railway Station, who park their two-wheelers in the area. One employee shared his experience, explaining that he had parked his bike around midnight. He was later informed that a short circuit had occurred around 11 pm, but the issue had been fixed. However, the fire spread rapidly, forcing him to move his bike to another spot, only for the flames to reach that area as well.

Efforts to Control the Flames Took Two Hours

The fire at the Varanasi Railway Station continued to burn for over two hours before being finally brought under control. Despite the swift action of the local authorities, a large number of vehicles were destroyed. While there were no casualties, the fire caused considerable damage, and officials are still working to determine all the circumstances surrounding the incident. In conclusion, while the fire caused widespread destruction, thankfully, no lives were lost, and investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
