GBN Commissionerate Police Action on Newborn Trafficking Gang, 3 Arrested, Including Hospital Owner

A case involving the trafficking of a newborn girl has come to light in Greater Noida West. Here, a deal was being brokered to sell a 5-day-old infant for ₹2.60 lakh.

A highly sensational case has emerged from Greater Noida West. A deal was being arranged to sell a newborn girl—barely five days old—for a sum of ₹2.60 lakh. Acting swiftly, the police busted the racket. Consequently, three individuals—including the owner of a private hospital—have been apprehended.

Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid and safely rescued the baby. Three accused individuals have been arrested in connection with this case.

5-Day-Old Newborn Bargained for ₹2.60 Lakhs

The entire matter came to light when an individual contacted Child Helpline 1098 and reported that a large sum of money was being demanded from him under the pretext of facilitating the adoption of a newborn girl. He explained that he had shared information regarding his desire to adopt on social media, following which a nurse from a private hospital in the Bisrakh area contacted him and informed him about the baby. In exchange for the infant, a payment of ₹2.60 lakh was demanded.

GBN Commissionerate Police Action

Taking this information seriously, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), and the police team jointly planned an operation. Preparations were made to catch the accused red-handed with the assistance of the complainant. The accused nurse had instructed the individual to meet her in the Kulsera area of Ecotech-3 to hand over the baby.

On Saturday, ahead of the scheduled time, police personnel and other teams—dressed in plain clothes—took up positions in the vicinity. At approximately 4:00 PM, as the nurse arrived at the location with the newborn and the discussion regarding the transaction began, the police swooped in and apprehended her on the spot. The police have safely recovered the infant.

Police Action on Newborn Trafficking Gang

During the investigation, it was revealed that the medical stickers associated with the baby's delivery belonged to a specific private hospital, thereby deepening suspicions regarding the hospital's involvement in the crime. Further investigation revealed the involvement of the hospital owner, a nurse, and one other individual. The police have arrested all three.

What did the DCP of Central Noida state?

Shakti Mohan Awasthi, the DCP of Central Noida, stated that upon receiving the information, immediate action was taken, and the infant girl was safely rescued. The accused have been produced before the Child Welfare Committee, and the process of remanding them to judicial custody is currently underway.

Summary

The police suspect that this case may be linked to human trafficking; consequently, the entire network is being investigated. Additionally, efforts are being made to ascertain whether these individuals have been involved in similar cases in the past. Currently, the newborn girl is safe, and relevant agencies are providing care for her.
