ICC Announces Match Officials for India vs New Zealand T20 World Cup Final in Ahmedabad
ICC has appointed Richard Illingworth and Alex Wharf as on field umpires for the T20 World Cup final between India and New Zealand in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
The International Cricket Council on Friday announced the match officials for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final between India national cricket team and New Zealand national cricket team, scheduled to be played on Sunday in Ahmedabad.
English umpires Richard Illingworth and Alex Wharf will officiate as on field umpires in the summit clash.
Illingworth will officiate in his second consecutive men’s T20 World Cup final. He had also stood in the 2024 final alongside Chris Gaffaney.
The match will see defending champions India face New Zealand for the title.
Illingworth has been a regular choice for major ICC finals in recent years. He also officiated in the men’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final and the men’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final.
He will be joined by compatriot Alex Wharf, who will officiate in his first senior ICC World Cup final. Wharf has previously officiated in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2022 and the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 before being included in the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Umpires last year.
Illingworth and Wharf were also the on field umpires during New Zealand’s semi final win over South Africa national cricket team on Wednesday.
The match officials panel also includes third umpire Allahuddien Paleker and fourth umpire Adrian Holdstock, both from South Africa.
The match referee for the final will be Andy Pycroft of Zimbabwe.
Paleker joined the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires alongside Wharf in March 2025 and has officiated in six matches during the tournament.
