This tragic story hails from the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. In the town of Punganur, a man had recently gotten his bike's engine "bored" (reconditioned). The mechanic had instructed him to keep the engine running throughout the night. Upon returning home, he followed these instructions precisely. As the engine ran continuously all night, the room filled with dangerous fumes, causing the husband, wife, and their two children to suffocate and die in their sleep.

This devastating accident occurred in the town of Punganur in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district, leaving the entire region in shock. The incident claimed the lives of four members of a single family. This tragedy was not the result of an attack or an illness, but rather caused by a gas that is invisible, odorless, and whose effects go unnoticed until it is already too late.

The incident took place in the Tyagaraju Street area of Punganur. A resident of this locality had recently had his motorcycle's engine bored—a process involving the repair and reconditioning of certain engine components. After having this work done, he brought his bike back home.

The mechanic had advised him that, in order to properly seat the newly installed engine parts, the bike would need to be run continuously for a certain period. Acting on this advice, he parked the bike inside his home and left the engine running.

The exhaust fumes and gases emitted by the bike began to accumulate within the room. Since the house was completely sealed off, the fumes had no escape route. Within a short time, the entire room became saturated with the dangerous gas.

Experts identify this gas as carbon monoxide—a substance that is colorless, odorless, and tasteless. Humans remain completely unaware of its presence, yet it gradually depletes the body's oxygen supply. Often, individuals exposed to this gas lose consciousness before their breathing eventually ceases.

This is precisely what befell this family. The husband, wife, and their two innocent children went to sleep that night—and never woke up again. A dangerous gas claimed the lives of all four individuals while they slept.

In the morning, when the door to the house remained unopened for an extended period and no family member emerged, the neighbors grew suspicious. Typically, the house would be bustling with activity early in the morning, but on that day, there was an eerie silence.

Summary

The police arrived at the scene and, assessing the situation, were compelled to break down the door. As the police and neighbors entered, the sight that greeted them left everyone stunned. All four members of the family lay unconscious, and the interior of the house was filled with a suffocating atmosphere. A medical team was summoned immediately, but by then, it was already too late. After an examination, the doctors pronounced all four individuals dead.
