Vyjayanthi Movies Confirms Deepika Padukone’s Exit from Kalki 2898 AD Sequel

In a surprising turn, Vyjayanthi Movies announced that Deepika Padukone, who played SUM-80 in Kalki 2898 AD, will not be part of the sequel. The makers shared in an official statement that despite collaborating on the first film, they were unable to build a long-term partnership with the actress. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the production house wrote, “This is to officially announce that @deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration, we have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works.”

About Kalki 2898 AD

Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD is a mythological sci-fi epic set in a dystopian future inspired by the Mahabharata. The star cast includes Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, and Disha Patani. Deepika played SUM-80, also known as Sumathi, the prophesied mother of Kalki, making her role central to the storyline.
