Womens Hockey Asia Cup 2025: In the Women's Hockey Asia Cup 2025, which started in China, the Indian women's hockey team defeated Thailand 11-0 in their first match. In this match played at Gongshu Canal Sports Park Hockey Field, India played aggressively and defeated Thailand in a one-sided manner. The Indian women's team finished last in the Europe phase of the FIH Pro League this year, but it has made a strong start in the Asia Cup.

Starting with a win against lower-ranked Thailand in the first match of the Asia Cup is a good news for the players. With experienced goalkeeper Savita and drag flicker and star forward Deepika out of the tournament due to injury, the Indian team looked weak. But due to the brilliant play of Mumtaz Khan, Udita, and Beauty Dung Dung, the Indian team registered an easy victory. Indian hockey team dominated the math from the beginning and scored brilliant goals. Mumtaz Khan, Udita, and Beauty Dung Dung scored two goals each, while Sangeeta Kumari, Navneet Kaur, Lalremsiami, Sharmila Devi, and Rutuja Dadaso Pisal scored one goal each. India took a 5-0 lead in the first half itself. After this, India's attack intensified in the second half and by the end of the game, Team India scored 11 goals.

World Cup ticket at stake

The Indian team has been placed in Pool B, which includes Asia Cup champions Japan, Thailand and Singapore, while Pool A includes hosts China, Korea, Malaysia and Chinese Taipei. This tournament is to be played from 5 to 14 September 2025. After Thailand, India team will now face Japan and Singapore on September 8.
