According to preliminary information, two police officers were also injured while trying to apprehend the attacker. The incident took place at the hostel of the State Medical University in Ufa, the capital of Bashkortostan.

'Attacker also injured himself'

According to the Interior Ministry, initial reports indicate that a teenager armed with a knife entered the medical university's hostel and attacked the students residing there. He stabbed and injured several people. Ministry spokesperson Major General Irina Volk told RTVI.com, "The attacker attempted to evade arrest, and in the process, two police officers were also stabbed.

Indian Officials Traveling to Ufa

Authorities said the suspect was taken into custody after the attack. The severity of the injuries to the victims and the attacker was not immediately known. An investigation has been launched, and the investigative committee is looking into the incident.

The Indian Embassy in Russia said it is closely monitoring the situation and is in contact with Russian authorities. Officials from the Indian Consulate in Kazan are traveling to Ufa to assist the injured students and coordinate further assistance.




Eyewitnesses described a scene of chaos at the hostel. Ren TV reported, citing witnesses, that "blood was everywhere" after the attack. Videos shown on local media showed emergency services transporting the injured to hospitals in ambulances.

The incident has heightened concerns among international students studying in the area. Russian authorities have not yet provided any information about the motive behind the attack or whether the suspect had any connection to the victims. Agencies are investigating the circumstances of the incident, and questioning of those present at the scene is ongoing.
