'Yeshu Yeshu Prophet' Bajinder Singh Gets Life Imprisonment in Rape Case

A Punjab court has sentenced self-styled pastor Bajinder Singh, popularly known as the 'Yeshu Yeshu Prophet,' to life imprisonment in a 2018 rape case. The verdict was delivered by Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Vikrant Kumar on March 28. Singh was convicted under IPC sections 376 (rape), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation).

How the Case Unfolded?

The case originated in 2017 when a woman from Punjab accused Singh of sending her inappropriate messages after she began attending his church. She initially remained silent due to fear but later filed a complaint. In July 2018, Singh was arrested at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport while trying to flee to London.

More Allegations Emerge

After Singh’s conviction, two more women stepped forward, alleging sexual abuse and exploitation at his dera. They met with officiating Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, who assured them of support and urged the Punjab government to ensure their safety.

Akal Takht Condemns Delayed Police Action

The Akal Takht secretariat criticized the authorities for delaying action against Singh, despite FIRs being filed earlier. The victims revealed they faced threats and intimidation, making it difficult to seek justice. The Jathedar praised their courage and assured them of full support.
