US urges India, Pakistan to seek 'responsible solution' as tensions escalate over Pahalgam attack

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has spoken to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in view of the increasing tension between India and Pakistan.

America has come forward in view of India's tough stand after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. America has asked India and Pakistan to reduce tension. America has said that it stands with New Delhi against terrorism. It has also been said from America that Islamabad should cooperate in the investigation of the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has held separate talks with India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. In his conversation with Jaishankar, Rubio expressed grief for those killed in the 'horrific' terrorist attack in Pahalgam. 26 civilians, mostly tourists, were killed in this terrorist attack. Rubio encouraged India to work with Pakistan to reduce tensions and maintain peace and security in South Asia.

Marco Rubio also discussed the situation with Shahbaz Sharif. According to a press release issued by the Prime Minister's Office of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif apprised the US Secretary of State of Pakistan's position on the regional situation. During the conversation, Shahbaz Sharif accused India of provocation. Rubio asked Pakistan to work with India to maintain peace and security in South Asia.

Pakistan pleaded before America

Pakistan has urged America to put pressure on India to avoid provocative statements. Sharif also raised the issue of the Indus Water Treaty. Pakistan said that the water received under the treaty is a lifeline for 24 crore people. He claimed that there is no provision in the treaty for unilateral withdrawal by any party.
